A frantic adjustment
The crew quickly shifted their position to ease the rope away from the cutting edge of ice. It was a tense and clumsy maneuver in the rocking boat. For a moment the net swung wildly, and the cub cried out in fear. Then it steadied again, and the fraying rope held firm against the strain.
