A sole guardian
The way Bruno held the puppy reminded Rosa of maternal care. He cupped it protectively, shielding it from the curious approaches of the other chimpanzees. When one came too close, Bruno turned his body to block them. It was as if he had appointed himself the puppy’s sole guardian and would let no one interfere.
