Margaret pointed toward several photographs pinned carefully across the wall nearby. “That was Mrs. Delaney. She always baked pies for everyone downstairs. And there…” She paused painfully. “That little boy loved toy trains.” Elena listened quietly while Margaret recalled tiny memories attached to the victims. Suddenly the wall no longer looked disturbing. It looked heartbreakingly human instead now.
