Local authorities in the nearest town of Drummond, about thirty-five miles west, say they stopped keeping detailed records years ago. The pattern was always the same.

A person would arrive, set up in one of the old buildings, and then simply leave. No incident reports, no formal complaints. Just gone. When contacted, most former residents declined to speak.
