Caretakers took turns monitoring Mara on the night cameras. At 3 a.m., someone noticed she hadn’t changed posture at all. She was wide awake, arms folded tightly, clearly signaling, “Stay away.”

When a younger male approached out of curiosity, Mara let out a deep, guttural sound, and he backed off immediately.
