Don’t wake the giant
Bill’s heart raced. He reached for the papers but didn’t pick up the pen. “Why?” he asked again, his voice quieter now, like someone trying not to wake a sleeping giant. Harrow leaned back in his chair, arms crossed. “I said sign them.” The silence stretched, heavy and cold. Bill’s hands trembled slightly.
