A few weeks later, Bill got a phone call from the school district. “Mr. Thompson?” a soft, cheerful voice said. “This is Principal Julia Monroe. I’ve just been appointed to lead Cullandgrove High. And I’d love to meet you.” Bill smiled. For the first time in a long while, it felt genuine.
